Isabela Travel App: An Android Based Tour Guide Application for the Province of Isabela

Abstract

The researcher had the idea to create a mobile tourist application that would support the Provincial Tourism Office in Isabela's Ilagan Capitol in disseminating information about the province's tourist attractions and allowing tourists to locate different tourist attractions in the province using their mobile phones. The app uses the Google Map Application Program Interface (API) to provide users with locationbased services. Furthermore, the data for the mobile app is retrieved from a server via a web service. The application includes information on the municipality's profile, events, and tourist attractions, both manmade and natural. The program was created using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach. Staff from Isabela's Provincial Tourism Office and chosen individuals from Isabela's several municipalities evaluated the application. The overall result of the system evaluation using the ISO 9241-11:2018 Software Quality Standard criteria of context coverage, usability, and portability. The system is statistically extremely valuable, and the data provided by the application is trustworthy, legitimate, accurate, correct, and impartial of information source, and the program is aimed at fulfilling users in terms of application portability. The findings revealed that the app is a useful tool for disseminating information and guiding tourists to the province.
